$16.1 billion dollars have been used by 140 countries as of today In a recent press release, the Global Fund pointed out to us that funds it has provided have saved more than 4 million lives in the fight against AIDS, TB, and malaria. Yet, we would like for governments and country project-implementing organizations to step back and analyze results on prevention, treatment access, and other aspects we have obtained from our communities that will lower the morbidity and mortality percentages for our region in regards to GF funded actions. Please take a moment and read the following succinctly written information, which can be used as a starting point for evaluating the path we have taken using GF aid and for changing what needs to be changed. Here is some important data to keep in mind: · 2.3 million people are now undergoing ARV treatment for HIV. · 5.4 million people are receiving effective TB treatment. · 88 million insecticide treated bed nets distributed to protect families from malaria · 62 million people received HIV tested and counseling. · 445,000 HIV-positive pregnant women have received preventive treatment to halt mother-to child transmission of HIV · 91 million people have been reached with community outreach services 3.2 million orphans have been provided basic care and support.
